A number of recent leaks have revealed information about Google's upcoming Pixel 6a mid-range smartphone, including its design and specifications.

The Pixel 6a will be the successor to the Pixel 5a that was launched in 2021 and is expected to be a significant upgrade over its predecessor.
The Pixel 6a will be the third device in the Pixel 6-series that includes the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. Both phones were largely well-received, with reviews calling them the best Android phones in their respective segments. While the Pixel 6a will inevitably have a lot to live up to, rumors suggest it might be well worth the wait and especially for those that don't want to pay the higher price of the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro.

Unofficial renders shared by prolific tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer, a.k.a.OnLeaks, suggest that Google's next mid-range smartphone will look very similar to the Pixel 6. That includes a dual-camera setup at the back, housed in a large camera block running horizontally across the back of the phone. There's also a centered punch-hole camera at the front, with the volume rocker and the power button in their usual positions on the side. Visible openings include a USB-C port along with speaker and microphone grills on the bottom edge, but there's no 3.5mm headphone socket. Overall, the device is said to measure 152.2 x 71.8 x 8.7mm (or 10.4mm when including the rear camera housing).

The Pixel 6a's specifications were also recently revealed by Twitter user Shadow_Leak with the most exciting aspect likely to be the processor. The phone will reportedly ship with the same Google Tensor GS101 chip that powers the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Subsequent leaks and supposed benchmark results also suggest that the phone will ship with 6GB and 8GB RAM options, with up to 128GB of storage. The Pixel 6a will reportedly sport a 6.2-inch 120Hz OLED display, which is slightly smaller than the 6.4-inch panel on the Pixel 6. It will also reportedly house a 4,800 mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging.
Photography is one area where the Pixel 6a will differ significantly from the Pixel 6. Code found within the Google camera app suggests it will retain the 12.2-megapixel (Sony IMX363) sensor of the Pixel 5a instead of the Pixel 6's 50-megapixel sensor. However, it is still expected to sport the same 12-megapixel (Sony IMX386) ultra-wide snapper and the 8-megapixel selfie-camera (Sony IMX355) as the Pixel 6. It should also ship with a pure and unadulterated version of Android 12 out-of-the-box. The Pixel 6a will reportedly be available in black, white, and green colorways.
As for the launch date, earlier rumors suggested that Google might unveil the device at Google I/O in May 2022. More recent reports, however, suggest that the device has been delayed to late July, due to the ongoing chip shortage. In terms of pricing, the Pixel 5a retailed for $449, while its predecessor was priced at $499, so the incoming device may be priced along similar lines. Then again, maybe Google will offer thePixel 6a at an even more attractive price-point this year.
