1 of 2Let’s talk about the ASUS ZenFone 8 Flip first. The renders reveal that the smartphone will come with the motorised camera mechanism that was seen on the ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 6Z before it. ASUS might just be the last mainstream brand that still believes in the flip camera design. Much like the predecessor, the rear camera module on the ZenFone 8 Flip will flip 180 degrees to the top so that the same cameras can be used for selfies. The flip camera also means that you get an edge-to-edge display with no hole-punch cutout or notch. Going by the renders, the ZenFone 8 Flip will come in two colour options and a Blue coloured power button.
ASUS ZenFone 8The ASUS ZenFone 8, on the other hand, offers a more traditional look. The phone features a corner hole-punch camera and a rectangular rear camera module that is situated a bit oddly on the back. Like the ZenFone 8 Flip, the ZenFone 8 also comes in two colour options and a coloured power button. This model will offer a compact size due to a smaller screen. Now, let’s take a look at the specifications for both devices.
ASUS ZenFone 8 Flip and ZenFone 8 specifications
ASUS ZenFone 8 Flip specifications, as per Agarwal, include a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The device packs a 5,000mAh battery and supports 30W fast charging. The motorised camera module houses a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP macro lens. Not a lot is known about the camera features at the moment, but we are told that it can support 8K video recording. The handset measures 165×77.3×9.5mm and weighs a hefty 230 grams, no doubt due to the camera mechanism and battery.
The ASUS ZenFone 8 is the “Mini” model in the series as it apparently features a petite 5.92-inch FHD+ display. This model also gets the Snapdragon 888 chipset coupled with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The dual-camera system on the back includes a 64MP primary sensor and a 12MP macro lens, with 8K video recording option available. The ZenFone 8 understandably houses a smaller 4,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging. Notably, the flagship comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device measures 148×68.5x9mm and weighs just 170 grams.
