If you're looking to build a PC or upgrade your current setup, now might be the right time to pick up a processor. Many of the best CPUs from AMD are discounted. The Ryzen 9 5950X, Ryzen 9 5900X, Ryzen 7 5800X, and Ryzen 5 5600X are on sale at several retailers. Prices vary a bit from store to store, but Microcenter, Newegg, Amazon, and Best Buy all have AMD chips at lower prices than we've seen.
First spotted by WCCFTech, discounts on AMD CPUs range from $60 to $170, depending on the chip you're looking for. The lower prices appear to be available in the United States and UK at multiple retailers.
On the high-end, AMD's Ryzen 9 5950X is available for around $600, which is close to 25% off its previous price. The Ryzen 9 5900X is arguably an even better bargain since it's now down to $450.
With these discounts, AMD's chips stack up more favorably to the best Intel CPUs. The Ryzen 9 5950X is now about the same price as the 12th Gen Intel Core i9-12900K but has more cores and threads than its competition from Intel. The Ryzen 9 5900X offers more threads than the 12th Gen Intel Core i7-12700K despite being a bit cheaper. Across the board, AMD's chips line up better with Intel's while on sale.
