Art crawls, night stalls at Queen Victoria Market, hidden bars, Degraves Street (iconic), the National Gallery of Victoria, all the distilleries and of course, shout out to Lune Croissanterie, home to an actual twice-baked coffee hazelnut croissant.
Melbourne is a city overflowing with streets to explore, sporting games to watch (hence being the ‘sporting capital of the world’) and naturally—food to eat. Which is why we know you won’t need any encouragement to get around Virgin Australia’s latest flight sale. We’re talking flights for $55 from Hobart for $55, $69 from Sydney, $89 from the Gold Coast, $99 from both Brisbane and Sunshine Coast, and only $199 from Perth.
Now, go pick that jaw up off the floor and get packing.
Virgin Australia’s Get Set Melbourne Sale kicks off March 14-18, with el cheapo flights spanning the entirety of March and April. The good news is Melbourne is absolutely the place to be during these months. Sports fiends can go for gold and don their team’s colours at the AFL Premiership and Victorian Festival of Footy (March 11-16) which is an absolutely unmissable experience, we guarantee your ears will be ringing for days.
Foodies can load up on every feed imaginable at the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival (March 24-April 9) too—we highly suggest you schedule in some time at Maximum Chips, an epic Friday night tribute to the majestic fried potato (think crinkle-cut, shoestring, French Fries and even potato gems) with DJs at Queen Victoria Market.
Keep an eye out for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (March 30-April 24). It’s easily one of the most iconic events in the country and you do not, we repeat—you do not, want to just ‘watch it on the TV’ this year. You’re better than that. It’s the biggest stand-alone comedy festival and this year you’ll find more than 450 shows scheduled throughout the city. It’s also a great opportunity to really get around and support the arts this year.
Finally, the F1 Australian Grand Prix will spark some serious joy, whether you’ve got a need for speed or not. You’ll be in for over 22-hours of on-track action across four mega days (April 7-10) and all the food and drink you can physically handle.
We’ll take it you’ve packed your bags by now? Good. Virgin Australia’s Get Set Melbourne Sale is slinging flights from as little as $55 and you can nab yours up right here. Hurry, sale ends 18 March.
