Although there's more and more talk about the upcoming MIUI 13 these days, as it may get its official launch in China before the end of the year, there are still a lot of Xiaomi or Redmi or Poco devices that are yet to receive their updates to MIUI 12.5 Enhanced edition, the last of the MIUI 12.5 updates.
Today the Mi Note 10 Lite from last year has been graced with the opportunity to run MIUI 12.5 Enhanced, finally. So far only the "global" units are getting it, but there's a catch here in that in MIUI parlance, "global" (software code: MI) units are basically those that aren't sold in China, Russia, India, Turkey, or Europe. It's more of a "rest of world" designation since the aforementioned regions all get their own custom software.
Anyway, that caveat aside, the new software build rolling out is V12.5.4.0.RFNMIXM, and it's a 2.7 GB download. If you have a "global" unit (check the About section for "MI" before "XM" in the build number for your current software), then, in case you haven't received the update notification already, it wouldn't hurt to manually check for new releases and you could get this one.
As usual, MIUI 12.5 Enhanced promises better performance, more battery life, new algorithms more efficiently allocating resources dynamically to ensure a smoother overall experience, ultra-fine memory management for more efficient RAM usage, new sensitive storage mechanisms that will keep your phone responsive as time goes by, as well as core system improvements.
